In the summer of 2009, Nicolas Rapp decided to take a break from his Art Director job at The Associated Press to attempt a one-year overland travel around the world in a 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser. He was back in New York in February 2011 after traveling 15 months and 37,000 miles.

    nick_portraitNicolas Rapp was an Art Director for the Associated Press in New York City.

    In the summer of 2009, he decided to take a break from his job to attempt an overland travel around the world in a Toyota Land Cruiser.

    After 15 months on the road, he was back in New York City.

    As the Art Director at the AP, he was responsible for selecting the information and stories the AP would cover in graphic and multimedia format and helping the department thirty visual journalists present the most compelling infographics and interactives.

    Before that, Nick was a senior graphic designer at the AP in New York and a graphic and multimedia visual journalist for the AP in Paris, France. He has covered various top breaking news stories, including the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon and the 2004 and 2008 U.S. presidential elections. He has traveled to cover various events, including the latest Israel-Lebanon conflict.

    He has also worked design companies in France, newspapers, economic magazines and books. He has consulted in the redesign of several European newspapers and is a consultant for 5W Mignon Media.
