We will be leaving Monterrey Sunday morning, and go south direction Tampico. We need to move faster, but were happy be in Mexico, and to eat plenty of great food.

We went yesterday to visit the Basilic of Guadalupe and witnessed one the hundreds of pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin María.

The upcoming feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe is December 12. This is one of Mexico’s most popular event. She is said to have appeared to Saint Juan Diego near Mexico City between December 9 and December 12, 1531.

I bet we will see more related ceremonies on the road, going through Mexico.

  1. Close call but I think the winner is the guy in the hat. 🙂

  2. Hey Nick, just want to wish all the best for embarking on a risky but adventurous journey. I read the whole story before you set off. I for one would want to do the same as you are doing. Looks like you got over the bug you had. I am an RN and just wondered if you got the H1N1 vaccine along with your other vaccinations.
    Anyway take care buddy.

  3. Nicolas,

Haven’t been on line for awhile. Missed a lot so trying to catch up on your twitters. Sorry you had car trouble but glad someone could help you. How was San Antonio? I was born there but haven’t lived there. So you are in Mexico. I’ve been to a few places in Mexico but Cabo is my favorite and seeing the Sea of Cortez is heaven. I’m going to try to catch up now on where you’ve been. Stay safe and have fun!! Summer

  4. Canon la moustache, el gringo !

  5. You’ve gone so far and to think this is only the beginning.

Tampico should be muy bonita. Make time to visit la playa (beach). Or camp out on la playa.

  6. hey travel boy, Joe from bama. Man I was going to leave a message every time when you moved on to new travel sections of your trip , butttttttttttt I had a problem, damn jail , yes me in jail. Long story made short. I was drinking, driving and a large woman(very large). So don’t go to jail in any country you are traveling through. Hell south Alabama is bad.(jail wish) Be safe , don’t drink and drive and stay away from the large women. Later Joe

  7. Wow!!!!!! Im so impressed! I meant to ask earlier about the NY tags. Im from NY and want to drive to Mexico as well, but DMV here is no joke. When did you cancel the NY auto insurance, and if you did how did you get around the fact that you have to turn the tags in? I know Mexico can care less about he vehicle being registered like they do here.

  8. I just want to let you know that I appreciate the time and skills that you have put into posting this entry. You have a new fan right here.
